Conformation Handling Classes
Learn the art of showmanship in Handling Classes taught by professional handler, Melody Rayne.
Teaching a dog to "hold", gaiting your dog, and understanding ring procedures are just a few of the components the classes offer in a pawsitive learning environment that enhances the handler/dog relationship.

* Classes may be canceled if following happens:
- There are 3 or less handlers signed up by previous day at 6pm
- The temperature exceeds 110 on day of class for outdoor locations
* Registering for class is a commitment to pay, unless classes are canceled

Introduction to Handling Class
This is an introduction to the basics of handling a dog in the conformation ring. Including basics of lead and collar selections, how to correctly hold the lead, how to do a down and back and a triangle, this class is for the novice handler with little or no ring experience.
Pre-Registration Required. No dogs in class, this is handler education only.
Class size limited to 4 handlers, scheduled as requested per individual
Prerequisite to Handling Class.
This class can be virtual OR in-person for your convenience!
Class fee: $40 per participant
Class duration: 45 minutes
Basic Handling Class
A structured practice session to train handlers for conformation competition. It is serious training about how to professionally present your dog and have fun doing it. Progressive and positive strategies are taught so that the handler-dog relationship and bond is optimized.
All Breed classes are open to dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds.
The handler should be familiar with basic ring procedure and ideally have some experience in competition. For new handlers, Introduction to Handling Class is highly recommended before joining this class.
Class fee: $10 per dog
Class duration: 45 minutes
Private Handling Lessons
Private sessions available for conformation handling for dog or owner. Lesson content is tailored to the primary needs of the session goal.
Lesson fee: $40 at planned locations OR Higley x Ray location
Lesson fee: $45 for off-site lessons
Lesson duration: 30 minutes

Class Policies at all locations
All participants in Handling Classes and events held by Phyre and Rayne Services are required to sign a Participation Agreement in order to take part in the class or activity. Children and youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied in class by a parent, guardian or an agent designated by the parent/guardian.
Phyre and Rayne Services and any officers, members, employees or associates, will not be responsible for loss or injury to any dog, person or property.
Participants are aware of and understand:
· All classes require registration and registering is a commitment to pay. No refund for missed classes that were confirmed registered.
· Private sessions that are scheduled must be canceled prior to 24 hours of the lesson time, otherwise lesson fee is still due
· There is a $35 charge for checks returned unpaid by the bank.
· Multiple dogs handled by one person are treated as one dog in terms of class participation.
· Dogs must be healthy and free of any communicable disease. Please refrain from bringing your dog to group classes if it has received vaccinations in the past 2 weeks.
· Dogs must be kept on lead at all times (when not crated) and kept under control by the handler. Maintain distancing with dogs, this is not a meet and greet environment, it is a focused session for dog and handler training
· Dogs that exhibit inappropriate social behavior may be barred from future participation in any class and no refund of fees paid will be made.
· Owner/handler provides equipment for their dog(s); prong collars and Flexi-leads are NOT permitted on the premises of class.
· Owner/handler must clean up after their own dogs.
· Owner/handler provides crates for ring side if multiple dogs are handled.
· Children and youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied during the entire class time by a parent/guardian or designated agent.
· Open-toed shoes, flip flops, and/or sandals are not recommended for safety reasons.
· No portion of the class may be video-taped for electronic or other media publication without the permission of the instructor. By participating in classes or activities sponsored by Phyre and Rayne Services, participants automatically give permission for standard photo use release.
· Phyre and Rayne Services retains the right to refuse service to any person whose behavior is inconsistent with the AKC Code of Sportsmanship and/or who exhibits behaviors that, in the opinion of Phyre and Rayne Services, put other individuals or animals at risk. The use of prong collars, electronic collars, and/or devices designed to create an aversive learning atmosphere are not permitted.
A copy of policies is available on request at any class. Each participant is required to sign the Participation Agreement in order to participate in any activity held by Phyre and Rayne Services
